On February 13, 2025, the kickoff meeting for the compilation of the 2025 Shanghai Report on the Application and Development of Building Information Model Technology was successfully held. Pei Xiao, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Cui Minghua, President of the Municipal Green Building Association and Director of the Shanghai BIM Promotion Center; Shen Hong, First-Level Researcher of the Building Market Supervision Division; Zhang Jun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association and Director of the General Office; as well as representatives of the Commission's Administrative Service Center, Market Management General Station, Safety and Quality Supervision General Station, Municipal Survey and Design Management Center, Municipal Housing Construction Development Center, Lingang Administrative Committee, and Songjiang Cultural Review Center, along with more than 20 participating compilation units, attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Zhu Jianhao, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Municipal Green Building Association.
At the meeting, Shen Weiqiang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai BIM Promotion Center and Chief Engineer of Shentong Group, made a statement on behalf of the lead compilation unit. Chen Hong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai BIM Promotion Center and Deputy Chief Engineer of Shentong Group, introduced the basis, approach, arrangements, and schedule for the report's compilation. This year's development report will focus on the Implementation Plan for Digital Transformation of Shanghai's Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Industry (2024-2026), optimize and improve the BIM standards system, and take innovative applications of BIM and CIM-related technologies as breakthrough points to comprehensively advance the in-depth application of BIM, so as to achieve high-quality development and intelligent upgrading of the industry.
In his speech, First-Level Researcher Shen Hong said he hoped this year's report would focus on full-process, full-element integrated applications and highlight the deep integration of BIM with the refined governance of megacities. He suggested that the compilation process should comprehensively analyze the actual application of BIM technology, with attention to application content, application modes, and application value.
In his speech, President Cui Minghua pointed out that this year's BIM development report is the tenth edition, which should both summarize the past decade well and grasp new characteristics, paying attention to the role BIM plays in urban renewal and the construction of smart cities in the new era. He also said that the achievements of BIM work should be measured from a full-process perspective. In addition, the compilation of this year's report should emphasize comprehensiveness, covering BIM applications of different scales and in different fields. He hoped the compilation team would analyze and project the application and future development of BIM not only from a technical perspective, but also from perspectives such as operations management.
Deputy Director Pei Xiao thanked the Municipal Green Building Association, the Shanghai BIM Promotion Center, and all participating compilation units for their attention to the development report, noting that persisting in compiling the report for ten years has not been easy. He said the compilation of the BIM development report is of great significance: it is both a stage summary of current work and provides ideas for the next steps. He also pointed out that the positioning of BIM must keep pace with the times. With the rapid development of technologies such as artificial intelligence and the deep integration of digitalization and greening, BIM, as an important means of digital and intelligent transformation in the construction industry, needs active thinking and practice from all units in the industry on how to adapt to the current situation and promote high-quality development of the construction industry. Finally, he hoped that all participating compilation units would carefully carry out the compilation work under the leadership of the Shanghai BIM Promotion Center, and use this participation as a platform for in-depth industry exchange to promote the better development of the entire industry.
