On August 28, 2024, the much-anticipated 2024 BIM Modeling Competition grandly opened at the Zhangjiang Experimental Middle School of East China Normal University.Under the guidance of the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, the Administrative Committee of the Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, this event was hosted by the Pudong New Area Federation of Trade Unions, the Pudong New Area Commission of Construction and Transportation, and the Party Committee and Government of Zhangjiang Town in Pudong New Area, and was undertaken by the Zhangjiang Town Federation of Trade Unions in Pudong New Area. In close cooperation with the National BIM/CIM Elite Invitational Competition hosted by the Shanghai Building Information Model Technology Association, it jointly launched the “one competition, two certificates” system, providing participants with a broader platform for display.

This competition set up two tracks—the BIM Modeling Competition and the CIM Real-Scene Proposition Competition—attracting, from among many renowned enterprises and institutions of higher learning such as the China Academy of Building Research, China State Construction Group, China Telecom, Tsinghua University, Tongji University and ECADI, more than 70 organizations to take part, with the total number of contestants exceeding 500. This was not only a contest of individual skill and ingenuity, but also a concentrated showcase of each company's technological innovation capability and team collaboration spirit.

During the competition, the contestants fully demonstrated their profound expertise and innovative capability in the application of BIM technology.
